Show: About Glo Naija Sings
When Glo Naija Sings kicked off in 2009, it was a ‘never-been-done-before’ competition for Nigeria’s brightest and boldest vocal talent.

Glo Naija Sings is open to a wide range of musical acts, from sensational soloists to divine duos and groovy groups of up to five people, and stake for the winner (or winners) is a cool USD 100 000 and a guaranteed stepping stone into the music business.

“To say that M-Net is incredibly excited about the third season of Glo Naija Sings is putting it very mildly,” says M-Net’s Director for Africa, Biola Adekanbi, from her Lagos office. "In the last two years we have seen astonishing music versatility, an undeniable passion for song and a pure determination to succeed. And this season is going to be even better!"

She explains that, “Glo Naija Sings is a completely original format – we’re actively going out into the country and creating a major customized series that best fits the culture and audience demand here.”

Adding to the sense of excitement are additions to the panel and presenters: Olisa Adibua - who presented the last two seasons - has made his way out of the host hot-seat to be replaced by major Naija muso Darey Art Alade and co-host, the outrageous Denrele Edu. Olisa's not out of the picture though: he's taken up the role of resident judge, while Tosin Martins is back as Performance and Vocal Coach and Dokta Frabz remains Music Director.

Glo Naija Sings held auditions in seven cities across Nigeria in July and August 2011, with each centre putting the best 10 from town up onto stage to vie for a place in the semi-finals. But they had to get through a strict and thorough inspection from resident judge Olisa and guests in each city first... The audiences at the show also got to have their say.

After the semi-finals the best upcoming singers in Glo Naija will take part in s semi-final showdown; and then it’s all up to the audiences to vote to keep their favourites in the running and to take these performers all the way to the biggest show in town: the Naija Sings Final in November.

But for now, all eyes are turning to the first regional shows, starting on 21 August 2011... And if you thought that you’d seen it all (and heard it all) on TV, think again: Glo Naija Sings is back: bigger and better!
